This was my parking spot for the month I was in the San Diego area. It was in the Alpine Springs RV Park. It's an old park with more that half the sites out of order, which made me happy, almost like boondocking but with full hook-ups. There was some noise from the freeway not to far away but it wasn't bad. We went from pine trees and perfect temps to HOT.
Spent our first night, back on the road, at Painted Rock Petroglyph park, which is Bureau of Land Management land. We were by ourselves, why you wonder, because it's hot and no hook-ups out here. If I had realized how hot it was I might not have gone there but I'd been driving all day with a tail wind and didn't even have the air conditioner on in the truck. It was about 90º by the time we got parked, too late to change my mind so did what I do when it's hot, squirt bottle of water, wet wash rag around neck and fans blowing on me. I don't do heat very well which is why I try to avoid it if I can but sometimes there's no way around it. Nice and dark out here just the way I like it and quiet too. From there we, me and the kittens, drove on into Tucson to visit a friend of mine who is battling an illness, which has her here in the Tucson area for several months. I been here for 4 nights and will be leaving in the morning to continue my way into New Mexico, where I'm planning to spent the summer.
While here in Tucson I've had breakfast with my friend Kristyn at Denny's and lunch with friend Michelle, at the Coyote Pause cafe which is over by moms and my favorite campground, Gilbert Ray. What makes Gilbert Ray so special is it's near the Saguaro National Park, there are Saguaro cactus all over, lots of them and they are blooming right now. It's hard to get a good picture of the flowers thought because they are so tall.
Talking about HOT. Since I've been here in Tucson it has been hot. That's hot by my standards not Tucson's standards. It's been around 100º every day this week and it hasn't cooled down at night, so I've been running the air conditioner in the rv day and night. Thank goodness it works. Where as the air in the Honda doesn't work. Will be having that looked at soon.
Some pretty flowers behind The Coyote Pause Cafe.
