Happy Thanksgiving from Beautiful San Carlos, Mexico

I'd like to wish my readers a Happy Thanksgiving, where ever you are.  I have so much to be thankful for.  Not a day goes by that I don't thank my lucky stars for everything I have and for where I am.

I hope you all are able to spend time with your friends and family and have a great meal too.

I Think We Need a Map

At the right end of the blue line is the Totonaka RV Park, I'm not staying there but I thought it was a good place to start.  Moving to the left, the first red arrow is La Palapa Griega where we eat lunch watching the dolphins.  Continuing to the left is the harbor and as you can see it's very sheltered.  Moving on down the road, around the curve and up the hill and down the dirt road is the beach with the gravely sand and clear water.  And all the way to the left, about 5 minutes away, is The Soggy Peso Bar where we went sunday to listen to a nice little band.  I'll post the link to this map at the end of the blog so you can check it out more if you want.

As you can see on the map, the Soggy Peso is on a small bay.  It was a bit windy when we were there and there were 3 windsurfers going around and around our little bay. What more could you want, a cafe/bar on the beach with boats coming and going and windsurfers for entertainment.

Some people boat in for music and dinner.

There they go paddling their way back to their boat,
with a windsurfer in background.

And there they go with their dinghy up out of the water behind them.

Dinner companions, who shall remain nameless,
because what happens in Mexico stays in Mexico.

That's all for now.

Having More Fun on the Beach in San Carlos, Mexico

Lunch at Hammerheads bar and cafe yesterday at the harbor.

The other day I posted this picture of Tetakawi Mountain

Here it is from the other side.  And we went to that beach

And this is the water.  A bit gravely but the water was nice.

Two boats and 16 pelicans, looking towards Baja California, too far away to see.
How often do you get a chance to be at flight level with pelicans?

Today back to Palapas for lunch and some Dolphin watching.

It's really hard to get a picture of a dolphin, but I gave it a try.

There were several dolphins just cruising up and down the beach and in the background you see that white on the water?  There was a group of them out there feeding.

See you later.  Don't forget, all pictures are taken with my iPhone 7plus.

Went to the Beach

Went to the beach today.  OMG the water is so beautiful.

There were 6 of us there, you can see the 4 others in this picture.
Looking back towards town with it's forked mountain.

Also walked around an old abandoned building.

Looking towards town

Looking away from town to a fresh water lagoon

Also went back to Rosa's, the lady doing my visa paperwork and signed many forms, now we wait while she sends them off to Mexico City and they send something back to her.  Three weeks or so.

Here's some local wildlife.

So long for now.

The Big Reveal

No, not a gender reveal but the reveal of my future plans.  I'M IN MEXICO.

Early Sunday morning waiting for the Nogales Arizona border crossing
to open at 6am.  That's my friend, Betty, in front of me.

Betty has been driving down to San Carlos, Mexico for the last three years and renting an rv parking spot from a friend who owns a home with two covered RV spots in her yard.  So Betty is in one and I"m in the other.

Map of Sundays drive.  You can see that San Carlos is on the Sea of Cortez.

The kitties like their new patio, where they can bird watch.

Getting our paper work done at kilometer 21 didn't take us long and we were soon back on the road heading south.  The countryside is beautiful.  We passed miles of vineyards and other miles of Organ Pipe cactus, some of which were huge.  Sorry no pictures.

Entrance to San Carlos harbor, not my picture.

I spent the last two months getting ready for this big move, it's big because I don't know when I'll go back to the states.  I've entered the country with a Residente Temporal visa, (temporary resident) which is valid for a year at which time I can go to any local immigration office and renew it for more time. My plan is to stay here in San Carlos for 3 months, until the end of January, then wander down to the Lake Chapala area where I'm thinking of looking for a small house to rent.  The kittens and I are missing having our own yard with flowers and trees.  But for the next three months I get to eat fresh fish and drink Margaritas on the beach what could be more fun.

Betty took me around town today, monday, and showed me the highlights such as the Banco (bank), with the ATM, the grocery store, gas station and most important the restaurant on the beach where we sat for 3 hours eating and making new friends, well old friends of Betty's.  One of the ladies at lunch told me who to hire to do the paperwork for my visa and Honda permit, called a TIP, Temporary Import Permit, I already got the permit for the RV on line and it's valid for 10 years. So after lunch we went by Rosa's office and she's on it already.

Here are some pictures I took today.

Looking back at the friends I had lunch with.

I've been talking about going to Mexico for about the last 10 years but mom didn't want to go, she would say, "honey, you can go after I'm gone".  It took me about 3 months to remember my Mexico idea and since then I've been researching where to go and how to pull it all together.  That's when I remembered Betty and her yearly trips to San Carlos. That was it, texted her and asked if I could follow her down and here I am.  And of course I have some other friends arriving here in December.  They're boondocking friends who I haven't seen since last winter.  It will be fun to see my Canadian friends here in Mexico.

More later.
