I have some long time friends from northern California who are now living and working in one of Santa Fe's RV parks. This is where mom and I were planned to spend the summer, so in order to make things easy for myself, I decided to just stick to the plan. I've been here for about 10 days and scoped out the best site and have rented it for the month of June but I will probably be here for a few months.
The view from our door.
Since the kitties and I will be here all summer and we are at the end of
the road, where there isn't much traffic, I have turned them loose.
There's Missie hiding in the shade.
Here they are hunting.
I've planted a garden.
And have already eaten a strawberry.
There's a bit of maintenance that I need to do to the RV and some modifications that I've been wanting to do. In the picture above are things I'v taken out of the RV, piled on the table and covered with a tarp, because we're headed into the monsoon season and I need to keep them dry.
Nice empty corner except those electrical wires.
I'll deal with those another day.
The empty corner, with the yucky valences removed from the window.
I'm going to paint the inside of the RV. A really BIG job.
See the curtain hanging over the door, and what you can't see is that the door is open but the screen is closed. It has been hot and I've been running the air conditioner. But the kitties are outside and I need to be able to see and hear them, this way when they want to come, in to touch base with me, they get up on the step where I can see them and I open the door for them. The screen is closed so they can't bring in every lizard that they catch, all wildlife stays outside.
Taking things apart, patching holes, numbering cabinets and doors,
so everything goes back together in the right spot.
Next goes on the primer.
After one coat of primer, walls and cabinets.
Chaos
Most people who remodel or paint their RVs aren't living in them at the same time, and I thought long and hard before I started this project. I decided that I'd do it in small sections. Doing it that way will take longer but I have to live in this small space too. So I started by the door and will work my way around the kitchen and living area, and try to get that done by the end of June when my Denver cousin will be coming for a visit.
Wish me luck, I can only work on it for a few hours a day.
Tomorrow I'm taking the day off and going into Albuquerque to get a hair cut and do some shopping. While I'm gone the kitties will be in the house all by themselves just like old times. I can't be worrying about them while I'm gone all day, although I have left them outside while I've run into town to get paint. They have a water dish outside and safe places under the RV to get out of the sun. But they are in the house well before it gets dark every night, no outside nighttime adventures for them.
Be back soon.
Ev, Bubba and Missie
